The Champions League is the premier club football competition of UEFA, european football's govnerning body.

The 2012/13 Season Champions League Final will be played at Wembley Stadium in London, this will be the second time in three years Wembley has hosted the UCL Final. The 2012/13 Champions League proper compromises 32 teams split into eight groups of four teams, the top two teams from each champions league group will progress to the knock-out phases, where each tie is played over two-leg's. The current winners are Chelsea who beat Bayern Munich in the 2012 Final on penalties which was played at the Allianz Arena.

The Champions League was founded in its current format in 1992, before this it was known as the European Cup. The European Cup was first contested in 1955. Real Madrid are the most successful club in the competitions history winning the Trophy a total of 9 times.

The 2012/13 UCL season runs from July to May. The competition proper begins in September with the start of the group phase where 32 teams are split into 8 groups. Each team will play each other twice therefore completing a total of 6 games, with the top two teams qualifying for the knock-out phase.

At the end of the season, the winners of the two semi-finals will meet in a one-legged affair which will be played at Wembley Stadiums for the 2012/13 Champions League Final. The winner of the final will gain automatic entry into the next seasons Champions League group phase.
