Weserstadion is the home of the German Bundesliga team SV Werder Bremen. The Weserstadion gets its name from the fact that it is situated of the right bank of the Weser River.

Since the summer of 2008, the Weserstadion has been under construction. This rennovation has involved removing the large distance between the seats and the pitch. When completed in winter 2010/2011, it will have a capacity of about 42,300 seats. In 1998 undersoil heating was installed under the Weserstadion pitch as well as the addition of 70 VIP boxes and also a Gro�raumloge for about 700 people.
